The Adult Services Program has a dual purpose: to ensure a woman’s physical and legal security, and to help her recover from the trauma of domestic abuse. We first help clients develop a safety plan, giving them the information and confidence needed to leave their abuser. Many women want help with an Order of Protection, which our Legal Advocate helps them obtain. She also connects clients to other legal supports, such as help with VAWA status or divorce.
Once we have worked on the woman’s safety and legal situation, we can begin to address the emotional and psychological scars that abuse has left. Women have access to individual counseling, group therapy, case management services, and advocacy support. Peripheral services from other agencies include leadership and public speaking training, financial education, immigration assistance, and emergency housing. We do our utmost to ensure a full spectrum of services is provided so that women have all the resources they need to free themselves from violence.
